Rosetta Stone
Another computer program that is based completely immerses you in a language without having to study hard, or even memorable. Hundreds of visual and audio instructions guide you through the process of learning at your own pace without you even realizing how much you're getting in! From listening and speaking of looking and writing, this program has it all.
When you say you do not realize how much I think you're getting just that. I used Rosetta Stone for Spanish, and after only a few sessions I was able to repeat things to my friends and family with confidence. I was not fluent in any way, it will take more time and effort, but I could not remember simple words and phrases without even really trying.
Going back to how we all learned as babies, the method used here is a repetition of the audio and visual instructions. For example, are shown four pictures - dog, cat, car and ball. native speakers voice says the word for one of these images and you have to click the correct one. Then, the displayed image, but again in a different order with another native spoken words for you to determine which one applies to the words you hear. Our parents or guardians would have done the same with us, showing us a toy dog, for example, saying 'dog', 'dog', over and over again or making dog noises. In the end, we recognize it as a dog and you say 'dog', or at least "not ..." in the first place.
