Dog Health Care Article - Basic First Aid For Your Pet - What to Do in Case of Emergency (Part II)


Just a reminder, before we continue to useful Basic First Aid tips, the concept of this column is to help provide care and treatment of your pet until you can get professional help through your veterinarian.

Bites (Snake)

-get your pet to a veterinarian immediately

-to keep yourself calm and pet and yet

-if you can bring a dead snake with you. The head is important to determine the species of snakes in order to get the correct type of anti-venom.

-Some veterinarians will recommend a tourniquet, others feel that they are useless as the poison has already entered the bloodstream. If you are recommended to do so after you're on your way. Time is important.

It is better to immobilize the entire pet veterinarian and transportation with the least amount of movement. Fractures are usually accompanied by shock, keep your pet calm and warm.
