two-year-old children prefer self-propelled ride-on toys and rockers. My boy / girl twins are 28 months old and make a beeline for them whenever one was in sight.
recent playgroup confirmed that this tendency not only in our family genes. Fri-two year old could not have enough turns "driving"the rocket ship around the living room at a friend's house. Even better is the rocket ship is a lot of buttons and gadgets to occupy this group of wanderers.
My kids use as toys around their first birthday, but do not seem to enjoy them as much as they do now. By theend of of the second year the children have developed more strength and coordination needed to put the toys to good use . Plus they are starting to believe play and incorporate their vehicles in these activities.
Depending on your personal preferences and living arrangements of most of these types of toys can be used both indoors and outdoors, weather permitting.
Here are some of the ride-on toys that seem to be popular in my experience.
of some brightly colored, and cute little coupe still seems to be the favorite. I even saw one in a primate cage in our local rescue zoo! I have noticed that it is available in several styles. New features have been introduced among the cast in a push handle for adult rides. There is a removable floor for child legs while the parent pushes the car. This version reminds me of a grocery cart with enclosed car where children can ride. With this coupe features can actually be running to be enjoyed when the child is even younger than two.
Tricycles are a great stepping stones, to the big kid bikes. Some manufacturers have models with a seat that sits lower to the ground by providing a broader base of support. It is perfect for the younger set is just starting out. It will not tip over as easily and has less distance to fall vs stronger seat styles. More fun for the kids and my heart skips beats or less!
Rockers also seem to have hit this age group. There are more traditional wooden rocking horse that my kids are enjoying because they were younger. This species can be found in a variety of animals and vehicles of choice. My kids now prefer some molded plastic rockers with more rocker bases and were known to spend ten to fifteen minutes of driving time. I particularly like the seesaw rocker style to seat two children facing each other, as they allow me to enjoy the twins run together or with a friend.
